Mortgage Operations Manager/Project Manager

If you’ve ever applied for a home mortgage to purchase a home, refinance your existing home or build the home of your dreams, you know what a difficult process it can be.  The paperwork and process can be extremely cumbersome and frustrating especially if you are unfamiliar with the process and other time sensitive aspects are dependent on approval. As a Mortgage Operations Manager, you will lead the mortgage operations team through processing, underwriting, and closing mortgage loans. You will coordinate and assign duties to ensure successful closings as well as monitoring all aspects of the loan process to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. 


The Job Share: Mortgage Operations Manager/ Project Management 

Job sharing allows you to share the responsibilities and hours of this full time 40-50 hour work

week. The hours/day split will be determined depending on the needs of you and your partner.

While you and your partner may have complementary skills, you will be expected to act on each

others behalf when the other is not present. As a combined team, the job share pair will share the following roles and responsibilities.


What you would do:

  • Responsible for operational excellence, project management and regulatory compliance as it relates to first mortgage loan origination, processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and delivery.

  • Monitor and manage the timeliness and quality of the mortgage pipeline. 

  • Develop and recommend additions to the mortgage products and offerings.

  • Assist in mortgage hiring and training for continued development of staff. 

  • Routinely communicate with team members and other key business partners. 

  • Establish collaborative partnerships with other business lines within bank.

  • Utilize and adhere to internal guidelines, procedures and service standards to ensure that all assigned work/transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner and meet compliance standards.

  • Communicate business goals, objectives and company performance results to staff.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

For this role, knowledge of bank and mortgage compliance regulations and laws and/or project management is required. Familiarity with all aspects of the mortgage granting process is ideal in order to train and guide mortgage team members. An undergraduate degree in finance/business experience is preferred but required. Equivalent mortgage, project management, or supervisory experience will be considered. A National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration is a plus but not necessary.


To be successful in this role, you must be a quick learner, be organized, detail and process oriented, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exercise good judgement, and be resourceful. You work well in a fast-paced, high volume environment, yet are flexible and able to reprioritize daily work to align with the needs of the company for yourself and your team. You are self-motivated, disciplined, have a high sense of urgency, and are capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines. You have strong leadership and team-building skills and effectively manage/develop your team and organize workloads. You must be comfortable with technology and computers and proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Location: West Omaha, Nebraska

Business: Financial Services Industry- Banking

Reports to: Mortgage President

Shared hours: 40-50 hour/week 

Shared Salary Range: $60,000 – 70,000 depending on experience and hours

Flexibility: Able to work flexible hours and options for partial remote work
